Open Arms Person of the Month features success milestones of persons with special needs. During March, we recognize vocational student at Lighthouse School, Shanike Ebanks.

Shanike is described as a lovely and helpful person.  Wherever she goes, others are always drawn by her love and affection.  The 18-year-old Special Olympian has traveled the world and won

medals in track and field and other sporting activities. Her most recent adventure was attending the 2011 Summer Special Olympic games in Greece where she won bronze and silver medals.  Shanike dreams of working at a fast-food restaurant and is currently pursuing this dream.

If you know someone who has enriched the lives of special needs persons or persons who excel despite having a disability, please submit nominations to rotaractblue@gmail.com by 27 April 2012. Nominations forms can be found on our site home page under "Download". Recipients will be honoured at our Annual Open Arms Award Ceremony on 16 June.
